About Tami

poet | digital strategy consultant | educator

Hey, I’m Tami. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, and I hold an MFA in Poetry from New York University.

I’ve spent over a decade working in advertising, building campaigns and shaping strategy across industries. That work taught me how language shapes what people see, as well as what it can hide.

My poems grow out of that tension. My forthcoming manuscript looks at race, place, and work. Much of it is rooted in Texas, a consistent backdrop all my life.

I also guest lecture at the university level, where I design sessions that connect real-world work to what students are learning in the classroom.

Across all of the teaching, strategy, and poetry, I’m interested in how stories shape what we value, and who we become.
